Depending on where you are in your own learning and personal development will determine which of the nationally recognised Food Safety qualifications listed below you will require in helping you to progress to the next level in your career.
The aim of the Highfield Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering (RQF) qualification is to prepare learners for employment in a catering role, or to support a role in the workplace. On gaining this qualification candidates will understand that food safety is the responsibility of everyone involved in the storage, preparation, cooking service and handling of food. Its topics are regarded by the Foods Standards Agency as being important in maintaining good practice in the production of safe food.
Employers in certain sectors may require individuals to have gained this qualification prior to offering employment.
This aim of the Highfield Level 3 Award in Food Safety in Catering (RQF) qualification is to support a role in the workplace and give learners personal growth and engagement in learning. The qualification is designed for learners who are at, or wish to progress to, a higher or supervisory level within a food catering business. Topics include ensuring compliance with food safety legislation, the application and monitoring of good hygiene practice, how to implement food safety management procedures and the application and monitoring of good practice regarding contamination, microbiology and temperature control.
The aim of the Level 3 Award in Effective Auditing & inspection (RQF) qualification is to support a role in the workplace. This qualification is aimed at supervisors, team leaders, chefs, QA staff and managers working in a variety of industries where verification, auditing (including internal auditing and supplier auditing) or inspection is undertaken. Industries may include all sectors of the food industry, consumer products, hospitals, laboratories, pharmaceuticals, warehousing and retail. The qualification is also suitable for student environmental health officers.
The aim of the Highfield Level 4 Award in Managing Food Safety in Catering (RQF) qualification is to prepare learners for employment in a catering role, or to support a role in the workplace. The qualification is intended for those whose job requires them to have some responsibility for food safety. Candidates are likely to already have management responsibilities for an operational team.
